It is surprising that after few days of the Government reducing the prices of petrol and diesel, the fuel prices have been hiked again on Sunday. While the BJP ruled states have already reduced the prices, Opposition ruled states have refused to do so. However, the immediate hike in fuel prices have given rise to doubts about the committment of the Central Government, which is not in position to reduce the fuel prices to a certain level, as expected by the general public. If this continues, it will become another issue for the Opposition in the next Lok Sabha elections. It will affect BJP’s prospects in the coming Assembly Elections in 5 states as well as Lok Sabha polls.
