On killings in the name of cow

Dear Madam,
When over 80 persons have recently been killed in the name of cow in our country, we need to reflect on Swami Vivekananda’s observation on it. He had once asked a member of a cow protection society why they did not help the people during a famine. On being told that the famine was the result of the people’s sin, Swamiji said that then it could be the sin of some cows that got them slaughtered. When Swamiji was reminded that the cow was our mother, he said, “I understand : who else could give birth to such accomplished children?”
