On influx of illegal immigrants in Nagaland

Dear Madam,
The issue of illegal immigrants has once again come up in the wake of draft NRC publication in Assam. But one needs to ponder what has Nagaland done to check the influx of illegal immigrants till date. It was some 15-20 years back, a movement was carried out and illegal immigrants deported from Nagaland, the movement died out very soon. The efforts of Naga Council Dimapur few years back to check illegal Bangladeshi immigrants also met the same fate with no positive outcome. At present it would be really difficult for the government to detect and deport the IBIs from Nagaland as they have settled for years in the state with the help of documents procured from Assam district. However, the state needs to be alert on the influx issue.
Toshi, Dimapur
