
Kohima, November 23: The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will be conducting the Nagaland Senior Free Style Wrestling Championship 2022 on November 26 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Informing this in a press conference at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) office complex Kohima, NWA president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang said that Rs. 2.42 lakh has been set as the prize money for the championship.
He extended invitation to all bonafide units of NWA and also any individual wrestlers from all the other districts to take part in the championship.
The weight categories for men shall comprise of 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 79 kg and 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg for women.
The weight measurement as well as entry registration will be done on November 25 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima from 2 pm till 4 pm.
The winner in all categories shall represent the State at the forthcoming National selection competition in December 2022.
The champion in each category will be awarded with Rs. 8000, 2nd – Rs. 6000 and 3rd – Rs. 4000.
On the other hand, NWA president said that there will be no cash prize for any category which has less than 8 participants.
Phowang Konyak, Advisor, Fire & Emergency Service, SIRD and Relief & Rehabilitation Nagaland will be the special guest at the opening ceremony at 10 am on November 26. K. Puro, former vice president, Wrestling Federation of India will be the guest of honour.
Meanwhile, NWA general secretary Vilekho Bio invited all wrestling lovers to witness the championship.
