Dimapur, October 20: The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) conducted a selection trial camp at IG Stadium, Kohima on October 19. A total of 22 wrestlers were selected for the forthcoming 8th National Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Championship 2019 to be held from November 21-24 at LB Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana.
In the camp, 9 different belt wrestling categories and 3 different freestyle wrestling categories were conducted and 2 best wrestlers from each categories were selected to represent NWA in the national meet.
The selected wrestlers are:
Belt wrestling: Cadet-Boy (59 Kg) – Vebo Nienu & Verothi; Junior-Boy (54 Kg) – Bontang Phom & Viketoutuo; Junior-Boy (65 Kg) – Mhasheve Resuh & Lhupra Vero;
Junior-Girl (50 Kg) – Vingutuonuo; Senior-Boy (57 Kg) – Rokovoto & Mhasineikho;
Senior-Boy (65 Kg) – Rokokehie & Kevilhuolie; Senior-Boy (74 Kg) – Keneiselie & Kuchohu Curha; Senior-Boy (86 Kg) – Vekutho Soho & Seketukho Nipu; Senior-Boy (86 Kg above) – Menuosetuo Yiese & Venuzo Dawhuo.
Free Style Wrestling: Men (57 Kg) – Viketuo; Men (65 Kg) – Kaiswang & Thechamo; Men (97 Kg) – Keduovilie Zumu & Megosier Khate.
Earlier, Akumla Chuba, Director, Youth Resources & Sports graced the inaugural ceremony of the selection camp as the special guest and encouraged the wrestlers to give their best and urged them to bring medals home.
NWA president Neivikuolie Khatsu briefed the selected wrestlers right after the completion of the selection process.
