NVCO supports move to ban unauthorized collection of money

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, MAY 21: The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has strongly supported the order issued by the Home Commissioner directing the Director General of Police (DGP) and Commissioner Nagaland to ensure compliance of the State Government’s orders to enforce the banning of unauthorized collection of money by NGOs, etc.
In a press release, NVCO president Kezhokhoto Savi urged the DGP and Commissioner to immediately issue instruction to the respective district administration and police authorities for strict enforcement of the State Government orders.
“As Government agency whether the union is aware of the Government orders, NVCO was surprised to see the statement of Dimapur Municipal Council Employees Welfare Union (DMCEWU) published in local Dailies dated 16th May, 2024 requesting the State Government to allow DMC to collect urban utility fee/entry fee from all commercial vehicles entering DMC jurisdiction”, it said.
The NVCO further appealed to the State Government to issue a similar order banning illegal deduction of public funds especially meant for development in the form of commission/percentage, party fund, etc which seriously affects the quality of work done by contractors.
“Association/unions/church organizations/clubs, etc. should refrain from fund-raise by way selling lottery/moudi/packed fruits, cooked meat/buffet ticket, etc. in an expensive manner”, it added.
