NU Vice Chancellor releases ‘MassCom Chronicle’

Dimapur, April 13: The Department of Mass Communication held its inaugural release of newsletter “MassCom Chronicle” at the headquarters of Nagaland, Lumami by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik. The special invitees were Yarenthung Ezung, Controller of Examination and Albert Khizho, Finance Officer.
A press release informed that the Vice Chancellor suggested for bringing out a tabloid-size monthly newspaper with outreach news beyond the campus. He emphasised that the Naga society is a rich flourishing society but are not able to capitalise the richness, so he urged the students to take active part in disseminating positive ideas, information and messages to inform the masses about its important impact.
The Vice Chancellor proposed to rename the department as Journalism and Mass Communication and to start a Bachelor’s degree such as Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) along with a Masters Programme. He stressed upon having dual degrees according to the National Education Policy (NEP). He also urged that the department increases its intake of students and proposed for more faculties.
