Kohima, March 23: The Nagaland University has postponed the undergraduate examinations scheduled to commence from April 2 till further notice.
Register of the University, Dr Abemo in a notification issued today stated in view of the restriction imposed on movement of public by the Government of Nagaland the forthcoming undergraduate examinations have been postponed.
Further all office under the University will remain closed till March 31, except essential services like medical, security, transport, electricity and water supply, and the Controlling Officers of these departments have been directed to draw up a roster of staff who are required to render essential services during the period.
“Other officers and staff under Nagaland University are permitted and advised to work from home and should be available on telephone and electronic means of communication at all times. They should attend office if called for, in case of any exigency,” the notification stated.
Teachers, officers and staff have been advised not to move out of their station with a view to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Also faculty members, researchers and non-teaching staff to provide their contact details like mobile number, email id etc to the respective controlling authority so that they may be contacted in case of emergency. Visitors are barred from entering the University premises of all the campuses without prior permission from the University authority.
Earlier in the day the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) wrote a letter to Vice Chancellor requesting for postponing the Undergraduate Examinations. “It is the humble and sincere suggestion of the ANCSU that the Nagaland University apprise the University Grants Commission (UGC) about the universal threat of the COVID-19 and appeal the UGC to issue a common deferment directive to all the universities under UGC to put in abeyance for conduct of any exam till further notice,” the letter stated.
Meanwhile, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has acknowledged Vice-Chancellor for taking prompt action and necessary measures taken by the Nagaland University as appealed by the ANCSU.
The ANCSU appreciated the university for postponing the under graduate semester examination which was scheduled to be held from April 2 as a precautionary measures to combat Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The union appealed to the students’ community to make optimum use of the exam postponement as a study break and remain updated on further announcement of the exam routine.
