Ntl Girl Chid Day observed

Dimapur, January 26: The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) – Mahila Shakti Kendra Kohima in collaboration with Nagaland State Social Welfare Board organized a special programme on account of National Girl Child Week, which was held at the Bright Morning Star Children’s’ Home, Kohima on January 24.
The event was celebrated under the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Champions” with the sole purpose to celebrate the girl child and ensure her safety and education. The programme emphasized on promoting awareness including the right of a girl child, the importance of education, health and nutrition.
The programme was chaired by Gracy Ayee, State Coordinator, SRCW.
Phek: A tree plantation on the theme ‘Save the Girl Child’ was held today at Phek town and simultaneously in all the four sub-divisions wherein 300 saplings was planted as part of the week long Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) special campaign to commemorate the occasion of National Girl Child Day.
Tree plantation activity was organized by District administration and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek.
The programme was chaired by Veposelu Naroh, District Coordinator, DLCW-MSK, Phek.
N. Bhavani Sri, (IAS), SDO (C) Phek delivered short speech before the plantation drive.
She highlighted the importance of planting more trees and to ensure every girl child become a responsible citizen in saving our environment and making the world a better place for the future.
Meanwhile, district level felicitation of the local champions is scheduled for January 26 at Phek Local Ground.
Wokha: Celebration of National Girls Child Day, 2020 in commemoration of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao foundation day, organised by the district administration, Wokha was observed at the Town Hall Bhandari on January 24.
ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang said that in today’s time, besides fighting against exploitation and discrimination against women they also have big responsibilities to focus on their health care first and foremost because a family’s health is so much dependent on a healthy mother and the future of a healthy society cannot be possible without taking care of the little girls today.
In his key note speech, EAC Bhandari, Dr. Riku Khutso stated that the main objective of the programme is to continue to support the girl child to live a violence and exploitation free life and to assert her rights for parity, for education and health care and to empower her to live a better life for herself, her family and the society at large.
Baby girls born in the year 2020 were given gifts in the programme.
Peren: Peren District administration in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra, Peren observed National Girl Child Day at Assam Rifle Public School (High), Jalukie on January 24.
Major Suneel Tadi 2 ic 36 AR spoke on the gender based inequality. He emphasized on re-orientation of the parents and uphold the value of girls in the family. “Just as a car cannot run itself without its driver similarly a society cannot function effectively without women’s involvement”, Major Suneel Tadi added.
WWO, MSK-Peren, Heiriateilei briefed on the significance of the day.
Peren District administration in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) conducted door to door campaign on January 22 at Jalukie town commencing the continuous celebration of Girl Child Week.
The campaign started from stadium colony till NST station distributing IEC material and interacting with the parents and girl children emphasizing on the importance and safety of the girl child. The team also encouraged the parents to play an active role in determining the future of the children without any discrimination based on gender or sex during the Mahila Shakti Kendra visits.
Sticker campaign
In continuation of the celebration of National Girl Child Week, Peren District administration in collaboration with District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) organized felicitation programme for mother & girl child and sticker campaign at Community Health Centre and Anganwadi’s Centre, Jalukie town along with the ASHAs and AWWs under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) on January 23.
Sakhi-One Stop Centre Peren in collaboration with District administration and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Peren under BBBP organized sensitization program for proprietors and children in Orphanages & Children’s Home at Christian Servanthood Ministry Orphanage Children’s Home, Peren town on January 24 as a mark to celebrate Girl Child Week and to bring visibility and create awareness on valuing of girl child on the occasion of National Girl Child Day.
Noklak: BBBP Noklak Block celebrated National Girl Child Day 2020 at the KTC Hall Noklak. M. Chaitanya Prasad, IAS, ADC Noklak speaking to the girl students from various schools in Noklak emphasized on the need to break down the system that prevent women from achieving their full potential and contributions to the growth of the nation.
