NTC urges PM to expedite resolution for Naga political issue

DIMAPUR, APRIL 30: The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has urged Prime Minister of India to expedite the resolution of the Naga peace process and take an altar call for inking the agreement of the much expected solution to the protracted Naga political issue within the parameters of the culminated dialogue of “31st October 2019” based on “Framework Agreement” and the “Agreed Position” as the benchmark dialogue that is inclusive, honourable, and acceptable without any further delay.
In a representation to the Prime Minister, NTC President, Toniho Yepthomi and general secretary, Nribemo Ngullie stated that it has already been two and a half years ever since the dialogue between the GoI and the NPGs for a solution to the protracted Naga political issue was officially culminated on “31st October 2019”.
The dialogue have been worked out on the basis of the principles of “3rdAugust Framework Agreement 2015” and the “17th November 2017 Agreed Position” with status papers which is dear to Nagas of Nagaland in particular and Nagas in general, but yet to see the light of the day, it said.
The NTC also said that Nagas are impatient now on the non-resolution and the extensive policy of negotiations for a solution to the Naga Political issue, adding, Nagas cannot continue to remain with anxiety and an uncertain future any longer.
The NTC further stated that several representations have been submitted to the Prime Minister earlier with unceasing hopes of bestowing peace in the land of Nagas at the earliest but to no avail till date.
It pointed out that Naga people of Nagaland in particular and Nagas in general wanted “Solution” but not “Election” during 2018 Nagaland General Assembly Election but the GOI assured “Election for Solution” which was once highly expected by the Nagas but is gradually vanishing.
The NTC also informed the Prime Minister that the political parties in Nagaland are united and formed opposition-less Government under the banner of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) so as to facilitate peaceful political settlement in the region.
It also said the Parliamentary Core Committee has also adopted a resolution on the same issue. These are the fortunes that have been blessed to facilitate to the much expected solution to the protracted Naga political issue, it added.
