NTC on AR raid

Dimapur, July 30: Reacting to the raid carried out by Assam Rifles recently against Gen. TM Rhakho, Commander-in-Chief of Naga Army, FGN/NNC at Hebron 1, Phek Town, the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) today said although it does not have any knowledge of what was the compelling reason for such raid despite several appeals made by peace loving citizens in different occasions, the incident implies that certain activity of the victim had warranted such scrutiny.
Stating that the victim belongs to a political group which has been part of the ongoing political negotiation with GOI under the atmosphere of cease fire, the NTC said as any other segment, this group too has commitment for bringing about sustainable peace through mutual negotiation between the two entities.
“This process of political negotiation is in the interest of both the Nagas and the country. This being the situation, the ongoing negotiation deserves everybody’s cooperation for peace and tranquility,” the NTC stated.
It appealed to all concerned to give due importance to the ongoing political process and avoid any provocative action under any circumstances which may jeopardize the peaceful atmosphere for smooth conduct of peaceful talk.
