Naga Sports Meet

Dimapur, April 2: Three-day Annual Naga Sports Meet 2023-24 was organized by the Naga Students’ Union Dehradun & Dehradun Eastern Naga Students’ Union from March 18 to 20 on the theme, “Sporting Triumphs” at Tulas Institute, Dehradun.
Dr. Nokmatongba Jamir, Deputy General Manager, ONGC Dehradun was the Chief Guest.
The opening ceremony of the Sports Meet was hosted by Viwiesie Poji, Assistant Games & Sports Secretary, NSUDD. The invocation was done by Pastor Along Tzudir, NCF Dehradun, welcome address was given by Khyolamo B Kikon, Games & Sports Secretary, NSUDD. Felicitation of the Chief Guest was done by Lumchungli T Sangtam, President, DENSU and a special song was presented by Kinikali Yeptho. Speech was delivered by the Chief Guest followed by an oath taking by Atuk Manpa, Games & Sports Secretary, DENSU. Vote of thanks was given by Bopeto K Shohe, President, NSUDD followed by a Naga Wrestling exhibition match after which the annual sporting event kicked off.
Students were divided into four houses – Dhansiri, Doyang, Dikhu, Tizu. There were many sports events that were carried out, which included football, basketball, volleyball and ended the day with tug of war.
The second day of the Naga Sports Meet was a thrilling showcase of talent and athleticism. Athletes participated in a wide range of track and field events.
As the final day dawned, anticipation reached its peak. The finals of the football and basketball was played where Team Doyang emerged as the champion.
The highlight of the day was the fiercely contested relay race, where each house vied for the title of the fastest team on campus.
Team Dhansiri emerged as the overall champion.
