NSSATA clarifies

Dimapur, June 7: The NSSATA (Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association), which is continuing its 3rd phase of agitation since yesterday, today clarified that the SSA teachers of 2010 and 2013, numbering 2730 teachers were appointed vide order No. EDS/SSA-CPA/009-2008 (I) and (II) and NO. DSE/RS/2011 as regular state employees through advertisement No. ED/ADMN/1/2009-10 and NO. ED/EXAM/2010-11, respectively and not as stated in the press release dated 06/06/18 issued by the government.
It said the appointment order clearly endowed as Scale Pay and “with all other allowances/rates prescribed by the Government of Nagaland from time to time with effect from joining”. “So, we are demanding what is rightfully ours,” it added.
The Association further stated that RTI No.SSA/NAGA/RTI 3/2010-2011 Dated 30th September 2013 where the Department of School Education clearly states that the post creation “is not done by SSA, it is a Government of Nagaland undertaking.
“Hence, teachers are appointed on a regular basis and their service is not co-terminus with SSA project” which makes us regular employees,” it said.
It disclosed that in year 2016, Government of Nagaland, Department of School Education gave a written assurance vide no. C&S/SE&SCERT/MISC/2016 stating that, “The inclusion of the salary of SSA teachers under Non- Plan shall be taken up at the appropriate time”, and that “the state Government shall take all necessary steps and measures to the extent possible to ensure timely release of salary”.
It said the SSA teachers have been served with numerous assurances time and again but the Government has failed to implement the steps and measures vis-à-vis salaries are not paid regularly, the inclusion of salary under non plan and the benefits and allowances enjoyed by the other Government employees are yet to be implemented.
It said the teachers have every right to seek justice through democratic means till the Government fulfils their demands.
It may be mentioned that teachers numbering more than 2000 gathered at the Directorate of School Education and started the sit in protest in a peaceful and democratic manner.
The teachers were visited by the NSF President and his colleagues, the ENSF President and his colleagues and the KVSU (Kohima Village Student’s Union) president along with his colleagues, who addressed the gathering and also extended their support in solidarity with the Association and its members.
For the past 2 days, the teachers have been agitating peacefully in the form of sit in protest and has been patiently appealing to the Government to address their demands at the earliest. (Page News Service)
