NSF to carry out exercise to prevent influx of illegal immigrants

Dimapur, August 6: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) with its Federating and Sub-Ordinate Units would be carrying out 1st Phase of exercise as measures to prevent influx of illegal immigrants in the State particularly taking into consideration the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.
In order to segregate the genuine Indian citizens from the illegal immigrants, student volunteers would be assigned to verify the documents of the non-locals at any time and at any place, and for which the ILP holders have been directed to carry along with them their ILP and other relevant documents like Electorate ID Card and Aadhar Card, etc.
In the process of verification of ILP and other related documents, the defaulters who are not able to produce the documents would be considered as illegal immigrants and the defaulters would be handed over to the District Administration and Police or would be dealt with stern action as deem fit by the Student Unions.
The Federation also made its stand clear that, this exercise is being carried out to identify and weed out the illegal immigrants and no genuine citizens of the country would be harassed in the process of the verification, so long as the person is able to produce the documents.
The Federation appealed to the District Administration and law enforcing agencies to extend their assistance and service as and when required by the Student Unions and its volunteers.
The Federation also requested the general public to support and extend co-operation to the student unions and its volunteers as the current issue/threat is a common concern faced by the public. (Page News Service)
