Asks State Govt to say ‘for’ or ‘against’ CAB
Dimapur, January 23: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) will boycott the Republic Day celebrations on January 26 next to show its deep resentment against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
In a statement, NSF president Kesosul Christopher Ltu and general secretary Imtiyapang Imsong said the federation, as a constituent unit of the North East Students’ Organization (NESO), has vigorously appraised and appealed the Government of India on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and shown resentment against the Bill in various ways and forum but despite of that the GoI have passed the Bill in the Lok Sabha and awaits the Bill to be passed in the Rajya Sabha.
The NSF directed all federating units and sub-ordinate bodies to boycott the Republic Day celebrations in their respective jurisdiction. It further directed all educational institutions and students not to participate in any of the Government activities or events related to the R-Day celebrations.
The federation further demanded the Nagaland Government to come out clearly as to whether it is for the Bill or against the Bill without further confusing the general public with “Press Statements” and “Counter Statements”. (Page News Service)
