Dimapur, December 6: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has demanded immediate release of six officers “over-staying in service” in the State PHE Department within 7 days.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, the NSF exposed clear violation of the provisions of the Nagaland Government Retirement Act 1991, where it is clearly stated that a Government servant is to retire after serving for 35years or on attainment of 60 years of age, whichever is earlier.
The six officers, including two Executive Engineers and four Sub-Divisional Officers, in the PHED are over-staying in service even after completion of 35 years of continuous service. Their appointment clearly indicates as appointed on 11-02-1983, it said.
The NSF also highlighted the order passed by the P&AR Department (O&M Branch) dated 14-11-2018: “In terms of the Nagaland Retirement from Public Employment (02nd Amendment) Act, 2009, it is conveyed that the service-length of 35 (thirty five)
years of the official concerned shall be counted from 11-02-1983, that is, the date of appointment as Computer Grade-II, and the officials in question shall stand released from service with effect from 28-02-2018.” The NSF said the order stated that it had the approval of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland.
“Therefore, the NSF demands that the officers over-staying in service should be immediately released within a period of 7 days time from receipt of this representation,” it added. (Page News Service)
Reschedule open recruitment exam
Dimapur, December 6: The NSF has also appealed to the State Government to reschedule the examinations date for open recruitment in the Commissioner of State Taxes and the Department of Social Welfare, which falls on the same date, in order to enable aspirants to appear for both the examinations.
In an appeal letter to State Chief Secretary, the NSF said the Commissioner of State Taxes had advertised open recruitment examination for the posts of LDA cum Computer Assistant; while the Department of Social Welfare had advertised open recruitment for the post of Supervisor (co-terminus with the Central Scheme) and LDA-cum-Computer Assistant (Directorate and District). But both the Commissioner of State Taxes and the Department of Social Welfare have scheduled the open recruitment examination on December 9.
Taking into considering of the limited and few advertisements being made for open recruitment examination, the aspirants for such examination apply in all the vacancies made for open recruitment, it said and appealed to the CS to make necessary arrangements to reschedule the examinations date.
