NSDMA to conduct mega mock drill in State today

Dimapur, April 25: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department will be conducting Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), a mega mock drill, on April 26 across the State.
In this regard, the NSDMA has requested the general public not to panic but cooperate with authorities and also give way to traffic for smooth conduct of the mock drill.
Informing that NEPEx is only an exercise to test the capability of the Government and other stake holders in disaster preparedness, the NSDMA requested the public not to spread rumours of impending earthquake/disasters which will cause fear psychosis.
The NSDMA also requested the following churches in Kohima to ring their church bells (for three minutes and a second bell after two minutes) at 10 am to announce the beginning of the mock drill – Cathedral, Chakhesang Baptist Church Kitsubozou, Christian Revival Church Kohima Village, Christ King Parish, Peraciezie Baptist Church, Ao Baptist Arogo Paramedical, St. Francis De Sales Parish (CPC) and NBCC.
The NEPEx simulates the 1897 Shillong earthquake with magnitude of 8.7 on the Richter Scale, an earthquake of such magnitude today would cause multiple damages to properties and casualties. For the purpose of the exercise, roads and traffic in few locations will be blocked for an hour in Kohima, Mokokchung and Dimapur. In this regard, the public has been requested to bear with the inconveniences. (Page News Service)
