NSDMA issues landslides & flood alert

Dimapur, June 14: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority has issued alert on landslides and floods in view of the monsoon this year to all deputy commissioners & chairman, DDMA in the State.
In an advisory issued to DCs of all districts in the State, Secretary to Government of Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor said with the onset of Monsoon 2018 in Nagaland along with the rest of the Sates in the India, the monsoon in the Northeast region is predicted to be slightly below normal, and therefore a deficient rainfall. However, given the erratic and uneven nature of rainfall pattern prevalent in the region, there are possibilities of rainfall-triggered incidence like landslides and floods during the monsoon period, which last from June to September.
In view of this, the NSDMA asked all the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to take up precautionary measures and check its preparedness level in their respective district.
