NSCN(R) celebrates Naga I-Day


Dimapur, August 14: The NSCN/GPRN (R) celebrated its 72nd Naga Independence day on August 14 with the Vice-President Akato Chophi as the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest in his speech said that ‘Naga Unity’ was a pre-requisite towards our goal for the political solution and called upon the Naga People to work hand in hand in oneness and in solidarity.
The Chief Guest was donning different (multi/mixed)’Naga Traditional Attires’ as an example that, “no matter what tribe we may belong to, at the end of the day we were all the same ‘One Naga family'”.
He called upon the people to stay united so that Naga Family may be a ‘Mighty fortress’ that is formidable and impenetrable by any act of aggression from external forces and adversaries.
The programme was given an ebullient and exuberant touch with Aloke Yepthomi, winner of “You know you got it” belting out beautifully the song ‘Imagine’ which mesmerized the crowd. Further the “Hornbill
Cultural Club” of Lengrijan also enthralled for those in attendance with their wonderful ‘Cultural show’ ignoring the blistering heat and summer sweat, dancing away to the tune and beat of the Cultural rhythm.
The programme was compered by Adl. Secretary Akheli Yepthomi and Joint Secretary Toshi. The invocation was pronounced by Kilonser followed by ‘Oath of Allegiance’ to newly inducted Tatars and Dy.Kilonsers which was administers by the Speaker, Inno Iheshe Aye. A short speech was delivered by Inno Panmei, Advisor to the Collective Leadership. ‘Vote of Thanks’ was said by Inno Viniho Kiho, Kilonser, and benediction by Inno Newell Achumi, Kilonser respectively.
