Dimapur, March 31: The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has extended Aoleng greetings to tteh Konyak community. Aoleng is celebrated usually during the 1st week of April which also coincides and commemorates the Konyak New Year.
The Aoleng Festival is to welcome the arrival of spring with prayers for a good upcoming harvest, and also includes dancing, feasting and sacrifices that are meant to appease the divine spirits to bless the land and its people.
“Though it is understood that this year, because of the threat of COVID-19, and responding to the clarion call of the Government, large gatherings and mass celebrations will not be held, however people can always continue to have emotional attachments through prayers, thanksgivings and exchanging wishes and greetings,” said the NSCN (R) in a greeting.
“Through this festival, may good tidings prevail amongst Naga family and let us all remain hopeful for better days to come,” it prayed. (Page News Service)
