NSCN (R) condemns AR

Dimapur, January 28: The NSCN (Reformation) has condemned the unprovoked firing at their camp allegedly by the Assam Rifles on January 11 and January 27 at Thalot/Kenon & Sallang village respectively stating that the AR had literally seized the area by laying ambushes in all “in and exit” routes to the camps.
The NSCN (R) further stated that the Assam Rifles are planting bombs and launching operations against the NSCN taking advantage of Ceasefire to cover up their own failures. It said the actions of Assam Rifles are highly deplorable when both the Government of India and the NSCN are consistently and persistently trying hard to resolve the Indo-Naga problems through talks and negotiation.
In a press release issued by the MIP, the NSCN (R) said it is consistently extending support to the ongoing talks to resolve the Indo-Naga political problems as violence have no room in the Naga society.
Stating that killing among the Nagas has become a matter of the past, the MIP said, “Every Naga individual is yearning for peace and NSCN (R) is no exception, but with the recent spate of violence and unprovoked firings by the India jawans at our camps, it appears that some elements are actively at work to demean and derail the sincere efforts put by both the representative of the GoI and NSCN leader at the highest level.”
The NSCN (R) urged the Government of India to take appropriate measures and halt the unwarranted act of their jawans immediately in the interest of peace, or else, “we may have to reconsider our commitment as talks can’t be held under duress.” (Page News Service)
