NSCN (K) claims responsibility for attack; says 6 soldiers killed

Dimapur, June 17: The NSCN (K) has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s ambush near Aboi town, and claimed that six soldiers were killed on the spot and an equal number of soldiers injured.
“In a series of on-going ‘Summer Offensives’ to sanitize the land against the illegal deployment of occupational Indian forces and to rein in their illegal activities, provocative movements there by wrecking havoc, perpetrating terror and disturbances of peace and tranquility in the Naga country, the Naga Army attacked the armed patrol of Indian Security Forces near Aboi town in the afternoon today and slew more than six (6) soldiers on the spot and injured the equal number,” said Col (Rtd) Isak Sumi, Deputy Kilonser, MIP, GPRN in am emailed statement.
The NSCN (K) also claimed that in an earlier attack at Shengha Lampong, two Indian soldiers were killed and two others including the unit commander in the rank of Major were injured.
“The attack was precise and discriminate targeting only the Indian Forces exclusively and the local village guards residing nearby were not harmed as intended albeit alleged by some anti-national elements,” it claimed. (Page News Service)
