Dimapur, April 22: With some traders in Dimapur hiking prices of essential commodities over speculation of another lockdown, the NSCN (IM) has cautioned dealers and shopkeepers not to resort to hoarding of essential commodities to burden consumers and the common people.
“It would be highly unethical on the part of dealers and shopkeepers in the markets to exploit the present situation following the spike in corona virus and the speculations of lockdown,” said a statement issued by the ministry of kilo affairs, GPRN.
The statement cited reports of some business people taking undue advantage and hiking the price of essential items like mustard oil, selling at Rs 150 per liter instead of the usual rate of Rs 100. The price of other items like Daal has also been hiked, it said.
“Artificial scarcity of essential items/goods in the markets should not be allowed,” it stated while sarning traders from hoarding of essential commodities. (Page News Service)
