Kohima, December 7: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has strongly resented the manner in which its cadres are being hunted down by the security forces in Arunachal Pradesh despite ceasefire in place and peace talks underway.
The latest incident was in Longding district in Aunachal Pradesh where Assam Rifles gunned down one cadre of NSCN (IM) Thursday and recovered several arms and ammunition.
NSCN source said Indian Security Forces ambushed a group of cadres between Lonkai and Muktwa in Longding district while they were taking rest in a hut in a jhum field. At least one cadre was killed and three sophisticated weapons along with magazines, bombs and several rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Even as there is a ceasefire security forces have been hunting down Naga rebels in Arunachal Pradesh. Several cadres have been killed in the last couple of years. The NSCN has been asking the security forces not to go overboard when peace talks are underway to resolve the long pending Naga political problem.
Source said security forces were tipped off by the suspected local informer about the presence of NSCN cadres in the area.
