Dimapur, June 10: The NSCN (IM) has claimed that the 16-poin agreement was made to sign in the “stolen name of the Naga people” solely with an eye to uproot the Naga movement on the one hand and divide the Nagas on the other.
“…the so-called 16-point agreement was made to sign in the stolen name of the Naga people solely with an eye to uproot the movement of the Nagas on the one hand and divide the Nagas on the other. And that S.C. Jamir was one of the architects of that agreement,” said a rejoinder issued by the MIP NSCN/GPRN.
The NSCN was reacting to SC Jamir’s political article “Nagaland and her political voyage.”
The NSCN (IM) stated that it was Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, who torched the fire of mayhem in Nagalim by sending Indian armed forces in 1954 in Nagalim to suppress the sovereign right of the Nagas.
“He was, however, desperately unsuccessful as he had driven the Nagas beyond the border. Though the Nehru government unleashed the most brutal form of oppression and atrocity upon the Nagas, God forbid Nehru’s wildest dream to materialize. His government went even to the extent of formulating colonial policy of suppressing the movement of the Nagas through the Nagas,” it claimed.
On Jamir’s take on factionalism and fragmented organizations in the Naga political movement, the NSCN (IM) alleged that Jamir himself was “one high profile Naga leader who sponsored factionalism to serve vested interests, particularly to weaken NSCN, the mainstream organization.” (Full Text)
