Dimapur, January 16: NSCN (IM) Chairman, Q Tuccu has expressed grief at the demise of P Hopong Yimchunger, Member, Steering Committee and one of the senior members of NSCN on January 15.
In a condolence message, Tuccu stated that late Hopong was the first war administrator of Indo-Naga war at Huker village on March 21, 1955. He was appointed as Angh Yimchunger on March 21, 1956 from Sainis village. He was also the president, Patkai State High Court, November 1960. He was president Honking Government from 1967 to 70. He was appointed CCM, NSCN/GPRN on May 21, 1989.
Founder and Advisor of Tuensang Affairs Council, NSCN/GPRN 1993, he was appointed Tatar in 1997 and held the position till 2007 and was appointed as Steering Committee member on September 15, 2008 till date.
Tuccu expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and offer prayer to the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
The NSCN (IM) Steering Committee also condoled the demise of its member, P Hopong Yimchunger and said he was a contemporary of A Z Phizo.
In a condolence message, Convenor Steering Committee Ashiho Asoumai said that the family of P Hopong and Yimchungru people should be proud of him with such an outstanding profile that he himself established for the God given Naga nation.
Paying highest respect to Hopong, the NSCN prayed that God grant the spirit ofHopong a peaceful rest.
ENNWU: The Eastern Naga National Workers’ Union also mourned the demise of Hopong Yimchunger on January 15.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy remains and he will forever be remembered for his contributions towards the Naga nation, ENNWU convenor, Moba Chang stated.
