NSCN (IM) alleges AR-ZUF nexus

Dimapur, August 9: The NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned what it alleges is the Assam Rifles’ “diabolic policy” that encourages chaotic situation and bloodshed among Naga brethren.
In a release, the MIP NSCN (IM) alleged that the 8th Assam Rifles posted at Noney (Longmai) under the command of Colonel Saurab Charan covered up “anti-social elements (ZUF activists)” and gave free passage to the ZUF to carry out fratricidal killing among the Nagas, which, it alleged, is a “coward act & a desperate move of the associates (AR & ZUF) who are apprehensive of the closing Indo-Naga political conflict that is awaiting an honorable end anytime now.”
Asking the Indian authorities to award appropriate action against “this kind of most contemptible joint operations between the Assam Rifles & the ZUF”, the NSCN (IM) alleged that when the news of the GoI and the Nagas, which is on the verge of signing the final settlement is doing the round, the 8th Assam Rifles intensified its operation against the NSCN from July 28 to August 6 so that the ZUF may carry out their violent activities.
The NSCN (IM) claimed that on the intervening evening at 7:30 pm on August 7, the ZUF under the strategic cover of the Assam Rifles came to Khumji (Lukhumbi), Part-2 village and resorted to blank fire in order to scare the public.
“Within a minute, they intruded into Gaibung’s in-laws house & forcibly dragged him out & shot him to death in front of his helpless wife,” it alleged.
The deceased served the nation in the capacity of Razou Peyu, it informed.
The GPRN condemned the gruesome murder of Gaipung Kamei and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace. (Page News Service)
