Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20: The NSCN/GPRN (YA) and ULFA (I) has announced joint boycott and general strike of 74th Indian Republic Day celebration on January 26 in all WESEA Region.
In a statement issue today, the NSCN/GPRN (YA) stated that over the years in her desperate attempt to annihilate our legitimate freedom movement, India is pursuing her hegemonic colonial policy to assimilate our people, unique history and cultures into her so-called mainstream. Through her hideous draconian laws and policies, India has been able to suppresse and subjugate our regions militarily but failed to crush our will and spirit.
The statement said the NSCN/GPRN and the ULFA [I] are fully alive in their stand and responsibilities. “The joint struggle for restoration of our sovereignty to the Nagas and Asom people is our legitimate resistance and their endurance, suffering, sacrifices and hope for freedom will never be in vain”, it stated.
Both the outfits called upon the citizens to “exercise your birthright” and support the boycott call by refraining from the celebration.
The total ban will be effective in the so-called States of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, it said. (Page News Service)
