NSCN/GPRN impeaches outfit’s president

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7: Following the recent controversy within the group, Khango Konyak has been impeached as President of the outfit he was leading “for repeated acceptance of bribe and violation of constitutional norms”.
The impeachment was approved during a joint council meeting of “kilonsers, tatars, regional authorities, military wings, secretariat staff, and the workers of NSCN/GPRN” on January 6.
“…in consonance with the endorsement of WC, NNPGs, Lt. Gen. (retired) Khango Konyak stands impeached and the Vice President His Excellency Luyanba Yimkhiung shall take charge as the acting President until further decisions”, read the resolution.
It also stated that Ato Kilonser Isak Sumi will continue to pursue an “honourable Naga political solution” under the banner of NNPG and remain the group’s legitimate representative.
