NSCN/GPRN (Akato) accuses NSCN (IM) of killing 1, abducting 3

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 1: The NSCN/GPRN group led by Akato Chophi has accused NSCN (IM) of butchering to death one of its members and abducting three others at Lapalampong Village in Tizit, Mon.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the group stated that Deputy Kilonser Temzei Konyak was “mercilessly beaten and butchered to death” by NSCN (IM) members while the whereabouts of the other three ~ Honchai Konyak (Tatar), Talem Konyak (Leacy) and Captain Wanglem Konyak ~ were unknown.
According to the group, they also have been presumably hacked to death. It stated that their members were on their way to meet Konyak Union members when the incident occurred.
“This outrageous and disparaging act that had cost precious lives is a direct challenge towards the integrity of the NSCN who, meanwhile in all true sense, are trying very hard to upholding the resolution passed by the ENPO, KU and other CSOs asking all NPGs to avoid factional clashes, and for which would maintain zero-tolerance and not cooperate with any NPG going against this peace venture”, the statement read.
The group, therefore, maintained that it was the prerogative of ENPO, KU and other CSOs to determine what measures should be “initiated against the defaulting NSCN (IM) for blatantly and wilfully defiling the resolution and choosing to abruptly and incongruously insult the good faith of the CSOs”.
“The NSCN on the other hand will do whatever necessary to defend our integrity, while upholding the desire of the people as the topmost priority. However the Naga people and the CSOs must clearly understand that though the NSCN will never spill the first blood, yet in the event of any threats, intimidation or unprovoked attacks, the NSCN as an armed organisations, is well resourced and copiously equipped and will accept no quarter but go to any extent to retaliate and thwart any sinister intent perpetrated by adversaries and outside forces”, it stated.
NSCN/GPRN (Khango) condemns
Meanwhile, the NSCN/GPRN group led by Khango Konyak has condemned the “barbaric act of NSCN (IM)”. In a statement, the group stated that “the crime committed by NSCN (IM)” was totally unacceptable and unjustifiable under any circumstances.
It advised the NSCN (IM) to refrain from such acts of violence. “While NSCN/GPRN (Khango) along with the whole Naga people are conscientiously looking forward to maintaining peace and order in the society and pursuing for peaceful co-existence and inculcate understanding amidst the myriad elements, such offensive and vexed activities of the NSCN (IM) towards their own blood brethren is uncalled for and jeopardising the peaceful efforts of the people and deserves to be condemned by every right thinking citizen of Nagas”, it stated.
