Kohima, January 22: The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) Regional Unit Kohima today held its general body meeting here at FIFA Café, TCP Gate and announced the new team of office bearers.
With its headquarter at New Delhi, NSA was formed in 2010. Presently, Dr. Zuchamo Yanthan, faculty, Social Sciences, IGNOU New Delhi is the president of central office bearer of NSA.
The objectives of NSA is to provide a platform to scholars to interact and promote academic excellence, to promote academic, intellectual activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences and publications, to promote educational advancement of the society, to promote socio-economic, cultural, political, historical and ecological awareness and to interact and network with other academic/intellectual forms and institutions.
Any bona fide Naga scholar who shares with the aims and objectives of NSA shall be eligible for membership.
The criterion for membership shall be a person engaged in academic and/or research with a minimum educational qualification of Post Graduate.
Chairing the meeting, NSA Regional Unit Kohima president Dr. Zavise Rume said that NSA was formed by few Naga scholars working in the universities across the world.
It is a common platform for Naga scholars working in different parts of the country, he said.
Dr. Rume stressed on the need to take up healthy interaction on any issue, particularly on academic excellence.
NSA Regional Unit Kohima unit was formed in 2018.
During the discussion hour at the general body meeting, the members felt the need to focus on sustainable development goals with special reference to enhancement of quality education,
It also felt the need to form NSA Cell across the universities to carry forward the intellectual activities.
Earlier, Dr. Kholia Mao, general secretary, NSA Regional Unit Kohima and Vinoholi Chophy, finance secretary NSA Regional Unit Kohima presented their respective reports at the meeting.
Dr. Chinpai Lily, joint secretary NSA Regional Unit Kohima prayed for the programme.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lanukumla Ao, member nomination committee announced the new team of NSA Regional Unit Kohima for the tenure 2022-2024.
President- Dr. Visiezolie Yashu, vice president – Dr. Daili Kholia, secretary- Dr. Kelesehol Tase, joint secretary- Dr. Aosunep, finance secretary – Vivi Yeptho and joint finance secretary – Merensangla Longkumer. Advisor- Dr. Zavise Rume.
Later, Fr. Gwatilo Alex, Tep, Asst Priest, SFS Parish Kohima prayed for the new office bearers.
