NRYO Annual Sports Meet 2021 underway

Kohima, November 19: The Annual Sports Meet 2021 cum Lt. Kelhousito Memorial Trophy of New Reserve Youth Organization got underway today at Police Ground, New Reserve, Kohima under the theme, “For a better Tomorrow.”


Chairman of New Reserve Panchayat, Vikehiekho Kintso speaking on the occasion opined that New Reserve is still among the youngest panchayat body in the state capital. He said the colony in general, therefore, is still lacking behind in many fields including infrastructure, roads and other developmental arenas. However, to progress and walk towards a better tomorrow, lies in the strength of the people and for which working together can bring unity for the colony, he said.
Kintso also commented that the only motive for competing in games and sports should not only be or winning but instill in oneself true sportsmanship of participating well.
Vikuosalie Zashümo, president, NRYO in his welcome address called upon the participants to be disciplined, punctual and remain united.
Six Sectors – Tekhuba, Lower MT, Upper MT, Project, IG, and Dairy Farm will be competing in three disciplines, namely football, basketball and volleyball for both men and women categories.
In the football (men), the semi-finals will be between Lower MT and Upper MT Sector in the first match and Tekhuba and IG sector in the 2nd match.


In women’s basketball, Tekhuba and Upper MT will meet in the first match and IG and Project Sector in the 2nd. The meet will culminate on Saturday. (Page News Service)
