NQAS knowledge exchange programme held

Dimapur, October 2: A knowledge exchange programme under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Dimapur District was organized by Nagaland Health Project at UPHC Burma Camp on September 30 for aspiring health units from Peren, Mon and Dimapur Districts. NQAS certification is the highest National Quality Certification in India which is awarded to Government health facilities that provides quality health care services. UPHC Burma Camp and UPHC Duncan Bosti were amongst the health units in India which have achieved NQAS Certification in July 2022.
Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, Dr. I. Moatemjen acknowledge the sincere and dedicated effort put in by the doctors and staff of both the UPHC and congratulated them for achieving NQAS which is a rare feat for many. He mentioned that the achievement of UPHC Duncan and Burma Camp can also be achieved by other health facilities and encourage the participants to learn from this experience.
Dr. LhouvizotuoBelho, Joint Director, DHFW stated that the knowledge exchange programme was organized to bring together the health workers of aspirant health units to benefit from the knowledge and experience gained by the NQAS certified health units. The programme will facilitate exchange of ideas, expertise, knowledge and experience which will be beneficial for all the participants as well as the host health unit.
Dr. Chamzai Newmai, Medical Officer, UPHC Burma Camp and Toshinaro, Consultant, National Urban Health Mission Dimapur while presenting their journeys to NQAS certification shared the challenges they faced along the way. Toshinaro stated that one of the crucial steps in preparing for the certification is to conduct gap analysis of the health unit to find out the areas of concern and to work on them using the PICK (Possible Implement Kill/Kickout Challenge) Chart. Dr. Chamzai, credited team work, dedication and coordination amongst staff as the key to achieving NQAS certification.
Chairing the function, Dr. Antoly Suu, Dy.CMO Dimapur remarked that community participation plays a very important role in providing quality services to the public and also in achieving NQAS certification. Community perspective was presented by Pennathung Lotha, HCMC chairman, Duncan Bosti and vote of thanks was delivered by MenguzenuoSachu, Consultant, NHP.
