Dimapur, June 3: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) Nagaland State has demanded immediate action in the lapses of COVID-19 SOP protocol by Government authorities in transporting returnees to Tuensang without awaiting results of COVID-19 test.
In a letter to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, NPYF president E. Yanghori Sangtam and general secretary (org) Jaser Meru said the youth front was shocked and saddened at the total lapse of COVID-19 SOPs where by Naga citizens were hurriedly sent to Tuensang without awaiting the results of their tests. This blatant disregard, the letter said, endangered the lives of countless people and families.
“Immediate disciplinary action should be taken in this regard and we look forward to the committee that has been assigned to give a report to the Chief Minister,” it said.
The NPYF also asked how such a lapse in judgment could occur especially since a “war room” was set up for the battle against COVID-19. “What measures and procedures will be put into place so as to avoid such incidents again?” it asked.
The NPYF further strongly requested the Government of Nagaland that BSL-3 laboratories be established and completed as soon as possible in all four eastern districts (Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire).
