NPF joining PDA only to get ministerial berths: NPCC

DIMAPUR, JULY 21: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has alleged that the NPF is joining the PDA Government only to get berths in the Ministry and not to pave way for Naga solution as claimed.
“NPF joining the PDA is only to get berths in the Ministry and join in looting the public exchequer”, alleged NPCC president K Therie in a press release.

“There is nothing they (NPF) have done nor can do to speed up solution”, he said.
Therie also reiterated that the PDA Government is responsible for the delay in achieving Naga solution “as they refuse to advise the Governor to implement solution.”
“It is because the Hon’ble Governor functions on the advice of the Council of Ministers. It is constitutionally customary that the Hon’ble Governor does not act suo moto when the Council of Ministers is alive unless there is breakdown of the Constitutional machinery. Therefore, solution is lying in cold storage”, he claimed.
The NPCC reminded that the Governor of Nagaland has time and again made it clear that “talks are over” for Nagaland even in the State Assembly. The Assembly had further passed Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s address.
“However, outside the House, the Assembly continues to demand one solution and to resume talks again. If PDA honestly wants solution, they should advise the Governor to implement the solution and assure their support in such implementation”, it said.

Stating that on July 19 last, the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue has admitted that its demand to resume talks was meant for NSCN (IM) and not for NNPGs, the NPCC said, “They were afraid to tell the NSCN (IM) directly and have been dragging the entire Nagas for they have no fear to the stakeholders they represent. They very well knew talks are over for Nagaland. They also very well knew the stakeholders’ demand. Never in the history of Nagaland has the State Assembly ever become so weak and stooped low.”
The NPCC also expressed shock that NPF party has endorsed its MLAs to join Hindutva when they have stood with Congress against CAA and for identity and secularism in the past. “It is now history for them”, it said.
Asserting that the option available for PDA is to advise the Governor in a resolution to implement solution and assure support to implement effectively, the NPCC said otherwise all MLAs should resign and pave way for the Governor to implement the solution independently.
The option for the Government of India, the Congress party said, is to keep the Assembly in suspended animation or dissolve the Assembly and implement the solution.
