DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25: NPF Legislature Party leader TR Zeliang on Friday claimed that one of the Party’s candidates in Manipur has assured to “give priority to Zeliang in employment opportunity”.
A press release issued by the information and publicity wing of the Party informed that Zeliang made this remark while speaking at Bendramai Village, which falls under Tadubi Constituency in Senapati, on Friday.
“Francis Ngajokpa has assured that he will give priority to Zeliang in employment opportunity”, he said.
According to Zeliang, when the Naga issue was raised in Manipur Assembly, the Speaker had said that there were no Nagas in Manipur “and there was complete silence”.
“It was only Francis Ngajokpa who stood up as a Congress Minister and said, ‘I am a Naga here.’ Thereafter the topic for discussion was closed by the Speaker. Among the MLAs from Manipur, it was Francis Ngajokpa who pursued the case of Maram-Peren NH-129A”, he said.
The NPF leader also said that “Upper Zeliang” will not be divided in the delimitation exercise of 2026, it stated.
“Tadubi AC and Tamei AC are important for our people. The two constituencies, Tadubi and Peren, need co-ordination because we are divided by Tepuiki and Barak”, he said.
Zeliang urged the villagers to vote for NPF and Francis Ngajokpa.
He also recalled that when violence erupted after the Manipur State Assembly had passed 3 controversial Bills on August 31, 2015, then 4 NPF MLAs resigned in protest.
“…in view of the stiff opposition, the (Manipur) Governor did not give his assent to the Bills but sent them to the then President of India”, he said, adding that even the President had withheld his assent.
