NPCC to file complaint against Y Patton with EC

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, APRIL 7: After a video clip of Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton seemingly encouraging electoral malpractices went viral, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Sunday said that it will file a complaint with the Election Commission of India.
“Deputy CM of Nagaland & senior BJP leader, Y Patton advising & encouraging village chiefs & leaders to cast votes of the whole village/polling booths. Shocked to see such blatant violation of MCC coming from someone of his stature.
“The Congress Party in Nagaland believes that every vote is sacred & will not allow the promotion of such electoral malpractices slide unchallenged. We will be formally filing a MCC violations complaint with the Election Commission”, the party wrote on its official X account.
It also attached said video to the social media post.
Patton made the controversial remarks while campaigning in Wokha for the ruling PDA’s Lok Sabha candidate Dr. Chumben Murry.
Congress, the only party to challenge the ruling alliance candidate, has fielded its NPCC President Supongmeren Jamir.
