Dimapur, November 9: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee today launched Lok Sampark Abhiyan (door-to-door campaign) at a meeting with the office bearers of the District Congress Committees and Assembly Constituency Committees at 4th Mile here on Friday in the presence of AICC secretary in-charge of Nagaland Pradyut Bordoloi to rejuvenate the grassroots party members in Nagaland.
Talking to media persons, Bordoloi said that the objective of the abhiyan is to reach out to the grassroots level. He said there are 2196 polling stations in Nagaland and what Congress has done is that, it has set up polling station level Congress committee with its supporters.
Bordoloi said the number of committee may vary, but Congress will identity 5 to 10 polling station level coordinators who would visit every household irrespective of the party support and reach out to the people. Party workers would go and explain as to why Congress is the only hope for peace and progress in the state.
The AICC secretary said that the Congress will also highlight the failure of the ruling alliance in Naglaand and expose various scandals of the present government.
Bordoloi also informed that Congress has decided to participate in the electoral politics of Nagaland, adding it would put up candidate for the by-election to the Aonglenden constitutency.
He also said that party is exploring possibility and gaining strength to put up candidate for Lok Sabha election next year.
When asked whether it would have any alliance with any party, Bordoloi said the Congress would go alone.
Later the Pradesh Congress also staged a dharna in Dimapur deputy commissioner’s office against demonatisation policy of the Narendra Modi-led government. (Page News Service)
