Wanglem Konyak

Kohima, October 18: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today handed over the party ticket for the by-election to 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency in Mon district to Wanglem Konyak.
The by-election was necessitated following the demise of NDPP MLA and Advisor for Social Welfare Noke Wangnao after a brief illness in Dimapur on August 28.
The last date of filing nomination is October 20.
Addressing the ticket distribution ceremony at Congress Bhavan Kohima, NPCC president S. Supongmeren Jamir said the rank and file of the Party will strongly fight to win the by-poll.
Congress has its base with the grassroots people and will work for the people, he said while reaffirming that Congress is fielding Konyak as its candidate for peoples’ welfare. “We are hopeful that people will support the Party for change,” he said.
The ruling NDPP is running an alliance government with the BJP in the State while Congress is ready to stand for the people being a Christian state, he said, adding that Congress is all out for the common people and will fight for the people of the constituency and not just for a seat but to cooperate and work together.
In his address, Wanglem Konyak assured the people of the constituency that he would do his best for the development of the constituency in particular and the state in general.
Konyak, who lost the election by 82 votes as NPF candidate, said that given a chance this time he will work for general welfare.
NPCC working president Khriedi Theunuo said Congress goes to election with relevance while other political parties use dominance and therefore urged all to support Konyak for change.
