Dimapur, June 19: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) celebrated the birthday of Rahul Gandhi by distributing “ration kits” in Dimapur and Kohima.
A press release from the party on Saturday informed that in view of second wave of COVID pandemic and extraordinary difficulties faced by the people in the wake of it, Rahul had decided not to celebrate his birthday this year too.
“He had requested those who were planning to celebrate the occasion to avoid ostentatious activities, and instead, had urged everyone to observe austerity measures and use resources to help those in need and those whose life and livelihood got impaired in the second wave,” it stated.
The NPCC conducted a brief function at Dimapur DCC office where its President K Therie exhorted the small gathering.
Five teams from DCC Dimapur, NSUI Nagaland and NPC Minority Department moved to different locations of Dimapur town area to distribute “ration kits” to needy people.
In state Kohima, PCC & DCC office bearers along with Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress carried out social work around Congress Bhavan area and later on distributed “ration kits to deserving people in need of aid” across different wards of capital town. (Page News Service)
