Dimapur, August 22: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has assured Governor RN Ravi of support from the party for an early solution to the Naga political issue.
The assurance was given by NPCC president K Therie who called on RN Ravi on August 21 to welcome him to Nagaland with the added responsibility as Governor.
Reacting to the Governor’s recent statement that the PM was desirous of concluding the negotiations within three months, the NPCC said Naga people are equally desirous for an early solution.
“NPCC President expressed satisfaction that peace has dawned in Nagaland and we are nearing final settlement that has been awaited for decades,” said a NPCC release.
Therie reiterated that what the people want today is peace, development and opportunities for children and youth, who are now scattered all over looking for jobs. He said people deserve liveable infrastructures like others in the world. He also specifically requested the Governor to enable students in professional studies to obtain bank loans for their studies as is enjoyed by other students in the nation.
The Governor gave a patient hearing and assured of early solution while expressing that the hearings are over and the wait is for the NNWs to revert back from consultations and hoped the three months timeframe is a reality, the release added.
