Nagaland News

Dimapur, April 11: The second edition of Fit Factory NPC (National Physique Committee) Nagaland Bodybuilding and Physique Championship, organised by the Nagaland Physique Alliance, will be held at Holy Cross auditorium in Dimapur on April 22.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the organisers said that this year’s event will also feature ‘the first proper powerlifting (RAW) competition’ in Nagaland.
According to Benli Long, State Coordinator of NPC Nagaland, many from Nagaland have been participating in various powerlifting competitions outside the State. “This time, we are bringing it here”, he said.
The competition will be open for both men and women powerlifters. He was of the view that powerlifting has “great scope” not just nationally but internationally too.
“Nagas are genetically gifted when it comes to adrenaline sports,” he said. This competition will feature athletes competing in categories such as squat, bench press and deadlift. The organisers are expecting participants from Meghalaya, Assam, and Manipur.
In the competition as whole, the organisers are expecting athletes from Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim and Haryana. “It is a pre-qualifier to the world-renowned pro qualifier Sheru Classic and Amateur Olympia competitions to be held in Delhi and Mumbai respectively later in the year,” they informed.
The various categories of competition will feature bodybuilding, men’s physique, classic physique, women’s bikini and figure.
Registrations for the competition can be made online or in-person. Interested athletes can either log in to www. indianphysiquealliance.in or complete walk-in registration on April 21 from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hotel Grand Tizu, Dimapur.
