No Good Friday holiday in Manipur

Kohima, March 29: Bad news for Christians in Manipur, the State Government has decided not to observe Good Friday on March 30.
The Governor of Manipur by an Order issued today has declared March 30 as full working day for all Government offices and Financial institutions in Manipur to avoid the anticipated rush for passing of bills at fag end of the Financial Year 2017-2018.
The order said in exercise of the powers conferred by the provision of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Act XXVI of 1881), the Governor of Manipur is pleased to declare the 30th March 2018 (Good Friday) as full working day.
“All Heads of Departments, Treasury, Sub-treasury Officers, officials and Banks employees are hereby directed to attend office on 30th March 2018 (Good Friday) as usual,” the Order stated. (Page News Service)
