No designation plates on vehicles

Dimapur, March 8: With an objective to end VIP culture, Home Commissioner has directed that no official or dignitary would use designation plates on their vehicles.
As per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Act 1989 nothing except the registration number of the vehicle should be displayed on the number plates of the vehicles and those violating the rule are liable to face punishment.
Accordingly, all Government officials’ functionaries have been directed not to display their designation on their vehicles, a notification issued by Home Commissioner, Abhishek Singh said.
The Home Commissioner said to avoid inconveniences to Ministers and MLAs, appropriate color coded car stickers would be provided that would facilitate their movement across the state.
