Dimapur, May 4: COVID-19 Nodal Officer from Nagaland, Dr Nyanthung Kikon has rubbished reports of a COVID-19 positive case detection in Dimapur. Since Saturday morning, there has been viral message on Whatsapp and other media platforms stating that a COVID-19 positive case has been detected in Dimapur.
Talking to Nagaland Page, Dr Nyanthung said that it is not true and that the rumour has no basis.
The viral message had created panic in Dimapur as well as in Kohima after some people spread rumours that Dimapur town would be closed from Monday. As the rumour spread, people rushed to the markets in Dimapur to purchase essential commodities fearing another total lockdown in the district.
The heavy traffic movement in all parts of Dimapur might have been due to the rumours as people went on a panic buying spree in many parts of Dimapur
