NNPGs have not been able to rein in rogue elements: ACAUT

Dimapur, November 15: ACAUT Nagaland today said the Naga national political groups (NNPGs) have not been able to rein in the rogue elements within their ranks and files of their organizations nor deal with excesses perpetuated by their cadres in the manner that is appropriate and justifiable in the eye of the public.
“The brazen act of abducting a helpless working woman by the cadre of NSCN (IM) for extortion is one such unpardonable shameless act and unimaginable in our Naga society,” it said.
The ACAUT stated that Dimapur, which is the most diverse, pluralistic and progressive city in Nagaland is most afflicted by the scourge of taxation, extortion and syndicate system, with jungle raj and lawlessness running reins indicating rotting moral, ethics of a collapsing society.
It urged all tribal bodies, NGOs and civil body organizations to exert social pressure on individuals from within their own community to conduct and act in accordance so as not to disturb the fragile balance of diversity which is the flavor and very essence of what Dimapur is.
Meanwhile, the ACAUT Nagaland applauded Dimapur police for the prompt action and requested for thorough investigation so that all those involved in this crime are arrested.
It further urged the judiciary that for once appropriate punishment is given to these criminals.
