NNPGs assures a ‘people’s solution’

Speaks of task post Indo-Naga agreement

Dimapur, October 20: The Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) has stated that any solution arrived between Government of India and the WC NNPGs will be a people’s solution.
“With the blessing and solidarity of the Nagas, the WC, NNPG entered into a dialogue with the GOI. Any agreement, therefore, shall be signed on behalf of the Naga people, with the people’s consent and in presence of Naga tribal leaders,” it assured in a statement.
Post agreement, WC NNPG also assured Naga people that inter-tribe discourse shall be top most priority on all matters. “Our common pursuit shall be to eradicate of corruption, tribalism and nepotism from all spheres of our existence. All Naga tribes must be prepared to shoulder the responsibility of rebuilding the lost confidence and trust within us irrespective of the artificial boundary that separate us.”
Reminding about that GoI and WC NNPGs ‘Agreed Position’ on November 17, 2017 that declares, “GOI recognises the right of the Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity…”, the WC NNPGs regretted that despite the irreversible historic document placed before the Naga people, Nagaland is in the grip of confusion and distortion of reality. “So much is being circulated in the visual and social media accusing WC, NNPGs of accepting economic and financial packages,” it rued.
The statement declared that not a penny has been accepted from GOI from the first round of negotiation till up-to-date and will not be accepted till solution arrive. “Naga people’s generosity, contribution and prayer support has taken us thus far. Attempt to devalue and demean the impending Indo-Naga political solution is very unfortunate,” it said.
Insisting that the solution is not confined to Nagaland state and it is equally for Naga people across our ancestral land, the WC NNPGs said the solidarity and prayer support of tribal hohos, civil societies, GBs, Churches and peace mediators and common citizens as equal partners stands testimony against any false propaganda.
“Transparency has been WCs strength throughout. We thrive on Naga tribes opinion and advise. It will remain so in all future endeavours,” it declared.
Stating that it believes a morally, spiritually, socially, politically and economically strong and vibrant Nagaland will, unquestionably, determine the pace and progress of remaining unresolved issues between GoI and Nagas, the WC, NNPG said it is clear that the first step towards Naga integration and self determination would be “to understand political realities in our time.” (Page News Service)
