NNC on Thinoselie’s removal

Dimapur, February 19: The Naga National Council (NNC) today clarified that though Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho was duly elected on May 11, 2016 as President in the NNC General Session, managed by the Federal Government of Nagaland, most of the NNC/FGN leaders, NNC Central Executive members and Regional Presidents, who had elected him have withdrawn their support to his leadership after seeing his non-cooperation to the FGN.
NNC Joint Secretary, Bendang Sangtam said that the NNC is the is the only Political Institution of the Nagas and for the Nagas and not the property of vested individuals.
According to the NNC records there is no such person by the name of Nuveta Rhakho as President of the NNC Chakhesang Regional Council, he said.
Sangtam further stated that at a time when the people of Nagaland are highly concerned about solution to the Indo-Naga Political issue which is honourable and acceptable to the Naga people, the opposition to the political dialogue is surprising.
“For matters best known to them it appears that they do not want to resolve the Naga Political Issue,” he said and asked the Naga people to judge whether some frustrated national workers who have lost the support and confidence of the leaders who elected them and who seemingly have no interest in solving the Indo-Naga Political issue, should be allowed to continue to lead the Nagas or not.
