Dimapur, October 14: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has expressed shock and resentment over the gory incident of October 9 at Meluri, where a father raped his minor step-daughter.
In a statement, the NMA said such beastly act calls for condemnation from all walks of life and appealed to all to be alert of such sexual predators. “The physical and mental trauma that the victims are undergoing from the person who is supposed to give them love and security shattered down and our hearts are with them. We pray that the Almighty gives them the courage to strengthen and heal them.”
Lauding the timely intervention of the wife along with the Meluri Town Women Organisation and the Pochury Mothers’ Association and all concerned citizens, the NMA also appreciated the enormous task of re-apprehending the accused by the Village Guards of Reguri village after he escaped from the police custody at Meluri.
The NMA also questioned the intent of the policemen on duty as to how he was led to escape from their custody, and demanded proper investigation in this regard. It further urged the Government to give proper security to the wife and daughter, and rehabilitate them; due punishment be given to all erring personnel on duty and the accused be given rigorous punishment as per law.
