Dimapur, March 6: Strongly objecting the parking tax to be levied at Nyamo Lotha Road Dimapur and monitored by the DMC, the Nyamo Lotha Road Business Association (NLRBA) has made its stand clear that in the event parking tax is levied along the stretch, the association will be compelled to down shutters in the stretch.
In a press release, NLRBA general secretary Khekishe Aye reminded that earlier it had appealed to the Dimapur Transport Authority to cancel the notification but to no avail.
NLRBA has earlier said that levying parking tax will discourage shoppers to make a stopover along the stretch for shopping purposes. Additionally, the shop owners who park their vehicle for the whole day will have to shell out Rs 120-150 on daily basis.
“Nyamo Lotha Road is not the only road with heavy vehicular movement and haphazard parking. So why levy parking tax only in that particular stretch? The move to levy parking tax appears to target only the business activity at Nyamo Lotha Road,” it stated. (Page News Service)
